My family and I went here in October and were please with the good rates on the rooms - but there was a definitely a reason for this. The only reason I'm putting 2 stars is that the hotel staff was very friendly and apologetic throughout - which we did appreciate - but it didn't overcome the fact that there were numerous problems during our stay. To start, we had selected early check-in on our reservation (which the front desk confirmed) - however they told us this was merely a request and was not a guarantee. OK fine - so we tried to check in at 1130 AM - no cigar - but we were told the room would be ready soon (saw the front desk radio the housekeepers to give them a heads up). No big deal - we burned some time with the kids - came back at 2 PM thinking we'd definitely be ready to rock - room still not ready, was told we'd be texted very soon. Waited around another hour - still not ready. Ok fine - let's just at least get in by normal check-in at 4 PM. 4PM rolls around - room isn't ready - was told "it's a big room so it takes a while". Kids are now melting down - really need some downtime in the room. Was told we'd be texted within minutes that the room would be ready. It wasn't until repeated calls and harassment on our end that a final check-in at roughly 5 PM was achieved. OK we moved past it - have a nice evening - then we settle in for bed and find out that the people below us were a group of all smokers that lived out on their balcony from approx. 8pm - midnight. It was warm in the room so we had windows open at night - needless to say we slept in an ash tray for an hour thinking it would stop - it didn't. We closed up all the windows and called the emergency line to request that they stop smoking - the smoke finally dissipated around midnight. Along with the heavy dose of 2nd hand smoke (and I'm not exaggerating it was so thick you could see a haze) - we had to listen to I-70 traffic the entire night. I realize Vail is close to the interstate, but we've stayed in Vail MANY times and never had this issue. This hotel was promptly situated a few hundred yards from the interstate with windows FACING it... creating virtually no soundproofing. Good luck sleeping. Aside from those experiences - the room itself was underwhelming. They have a VERY good photographer apparently. This was a very old condo and it showed. Odd seating areas, very very narrow bathrooms and hallways. Almost every room had no walking room. The upstairs rooms you can't stand up fully because of the slanted roof. The balcony overlooked a large parking lot (though it did face the mountains). The pictures we saw online did not show any of these details, very misleading. We're not really the type to throw a big fit - we didn't request a refund, we didn't complain about the room itself outside of the smoking issue - but I would 100% consider staying somewhere else. In fact, you couldn't pay me to stay here again.
