|We had a lovely week's stay at Le Petit Roc -it's a great place to unwind. The main house is split into three and with the cottage in the grounds you have four separate properties with their own outdoor spaces that are not overlooked, each with their own front door. The new owners have renovated the pool area with new decking and fencing. The grounds incl the tennis court are great too - lots of freedom for the children and places to play. We had not been to the area before (previously stayed more in Languedoc or nearer to Biarritz) - we really liked the area for cycling, walking, river swimming, horse riding, high ropes, lake with inflatables and kayaking. Chalais market on Mondays was good as was Aubeterre as a pretty local village. Outside the immediate area would recommend a trip to Saint Emilion. We did not make it to the coast but that's a very do-able day trip. Definitely would stay here again.

We stayed for a week this summer at Le Petit Roc and had a fabulous time. We were in Le Pommier which was lovely and had everything that we needed, but best of all were the facilities which kept the kids occupied all day every day - especially the pool and tennis court. It''s really well run and the decor is great. The location in the countryside is fantastic, surrounded by fields, and some great places to visit nearby. Can very much recommend the canoeing for anyone with children. Can't speak highly enough about it.

We spent 3 weeks at Le Petit Roc when our baby was just a few months old. It's a beautiful escape from city life and lovely place to relax as a family - with lots of amenities on your doorstep if you choose: swimming, tennis, lawn games (petanque, etc). For us, though, the best part was taking advantage of the surrounding local markets (Chalais, etc) and enjoying our market finds back at the comfortable grounds of LPR. With a different market nearly every day in the surrounding villages, you certainly have your pick of Bordeaux's best cheeses, fresh breads and produce...and wine, of course!

We were lucky enough to spend some time with friends and family at Le Petite Roc during the summer of 2018.||The accomadation is very well equipped with everything you could need...and more; a real home from home! It is comfortable and spacious enough to accomadate larger family meals both indoors or on the picturesque terrace complete with fire pit. ||We particularly loved the tennis courts and the pool which was refreshing to dip into or to enjoy sitting around on the comfy loungers. ||If you decide to leave such a peaceful||haven and venture out then there are plenty of activities just a short drive away, from food markets to kayaking. The surrounding area also offers a wealth of eating out options choices. ||All in all, a fabulous stay was had by all. Would highly recommend.

We visited Le Petit Roc again this summer, four years after our first trip, and it has only continued to get even better. We were staying in a different gite (Les Marronniers) this time, which was extremely roomy, well-equipped and comfy. Temperatures outside were really high, but the aircon was perfect when indoors, while the pool did the job when outdoors, especially for the kids. Can't speak highly enough about how nice this place is - even ticked the box of getting up close to watch a deer grazing in the adjacent field at sunset on the last night, which nicely rounded off the whole stay for me.

We spent a fantastic time at Le Petite Roc. There is a wealth of distractions and amusements to entertain and bond together family members of all ages and interests. From tennis, to pétanque,to ping pong, to hanging out by the pool, bbqs on the terrace or late night marshmallow toasting under the stars...and all that without even leaving the Roc itself! A short venture further afield offers picturesque markets, kayak adventures, high rope adventures, excellent restaurants...I can’t wait to go back!

We had a fantastic stay in the beautiful Le Petit Roc. A group of 12 friends, this farmhouse - with great facilities, in a lovely area - was perfect for a week in the Bordeaux summer sun.||||The main farmhouse is split into 3 inter-connected gites, which provided more than enough space for all of us. The interior is beautifully done - with all the mod-cons you could want (new kitchen appliances, large TVs, speakers), while still retaining a charming traditional farmhouse layout and feel. The bedrooms are extremely comfortable, and everyone had more than enough space. We had the house opened up, so could easily pass between the 3 gites. Each gite was beautiful in its own right, and opened up together they created a lovely space.||||The outside was perfect for those sunny Bordeaux evenings. Sitting outside, while the BBQs did the hard work, was a fixture every evening. The house is fairly isolated, and surrounded by rolling fields; we couldn't have asked for a more peaceful location for our holiday. ||||There is also plenty at the house to keep everyone entertained in the day. The swimming pool is a particular highlight - large, extremely clean and the perfect temperature. The whole pool area has just been re-done, with lovely new sun-loungers etc - we had to resist spending all day there! There are plenty of other distractions, including an excellent hard tennis court, petanque court (one of my favourites), ping pong table, and 5-a-side football pitch. And more. Whether you are looking to relax or stay active all day (or a bit of both...), this is a great spot to do it in.||||When we did manage to tear ourselves away from the house, we very much enjoyed the local area. Highlights included the Sunday market in Auberterre (and a beer in the lovely main square afterwards), and lunch in the Restaurant Poirier in nearby Bardenac. Poirier is a must if you are looking to sample the excellent local cuisine, in a very traditional setting. We also went to St Emilion (about 45/50 mins in the car) - and did a couple of vineyard tours. The lanes, fields and woods surrounding the house are great for walking and cycling too. A stunning area - and we barely scratched the surface. We passed plenty of golf courses and rivers for kayaking which I'd love to try in the future.||||More practically, Chalais (the nearby town, 5 mins away) has a huge supermarket, and a few restaurants too. We flew to Bordeaux, and hired cars. From there, it's a very easy drive (just over an hour), which was great for us as we had a couple of people leaving mid-week.||||Overall, I would highly recommend Le Petit Roc to anyone - from small families, to large groups. Enjoy!||||Thank you to Mark (the owner) for the stay, and to Tracy for getting everything ready for us, and being so flexible when we were leaving on our last day.
