Les Chardonnerets - Thiviers

Our fourth out of season stay at Les Chardonnerets has been as good as the first. It is really nice to see these amazing towns and villages without the crowds of the summer, Brantome, Perigueux and Bergerac are among our favourites. Nick and Jane are super hosts, they have found some amazing off the beaten track restaurants and are happy to ring and book a table for you. We stayed in La Jacinthe a very comfortable two bedroom gite equipped with every thing needed for our stay. We will be back next year.

Wonderful hosts, location, facilities and ambience. Nick & Jane made sure our stay was perfect and did all they could to make it special. The area is so peaceful with a lovely private garden area to sit and relax. Your own BBQ, patio table and sun loungers, and a nice large sparkling clean swimming pool right next to the gites. ||Lovely gites which offer good comfort and space, with a great fitted kitchen and we even had our washing machine and tumble dryer. ||Located close to the town of Thiviers which has a lovely market on Saturdays, and also just down the road is the most pretty village St Jean De Cole, which is stunning, unspoilt and like something from another world. ||Only 40 minutes from Limoges airport too!||All very impressive - I totally recommend!

We thoroughly recommend these beautiful gites. We stayed in Lavande and everything was perfect. well equiped with a lovely little private patio area. very tastefully decorated and extreamly comfortable.
Nick and Jane are lovely hosts and do everything to make your stay perfect.
The swimming pool is stunning and there is a large field area which is ideal for families.
The surrounding area is beautiful with lots of lovely places to visit.

Why would you want to stay anywhere else. This is our fourth visit and we will be back again. Jane and Nick are the perfect hosts and couldn’t have been more helpful, including making reservations on our behalf. We have stayed in 2 of the 5 gites and have loved them both. Location is perfect whether you want to go on walks, cycle, visit beautiful villages and historic towns and castles, or just relax by the pool. Lots to see locally and the Dordogne valley is only a couple of hours away at most. Been here three weeks this time and loved every minute.

Fantastic location for a peaceful and relaxing holiday or as a base for exploring along the Dordogne. Nick and Jane are very warm and knowledgeable hosts of France and the surrounding area.

We went on a family holiday with our daughters and their families. All 3 gites we had were very well appointed best we have stayed in .Beds comfortable. Perfect for children to enjoy themselves. Pool was centre of attraction and well used, kept clean and safe for children. Trampoline, swing,goals,table tennis etc.. Little need to venture too far if you just want a relaxing holiday. An absolutely wonderful time had be everyone from the 20 month old through to 10 year old parents and grandparents.

We’ve just returned from a week at Les Chardonnerets with our two girls aged 12 and 13. It was the perfect week in a beautiful setting with two of the best hosts we’ve ever met in Nick and Jane. Each gite is well equipped with everything you need including BBQ, full size cooker, Fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, toaster, kettle, hairdryer, a large selection of books, DVD player and UK TV channels if needed. Everything is really clean especially the pool which is large and has steps into the shallow end, great for little ones. Nick and Jane consider everything which would make a holiday entertaining for the whole family - there were mountain bikes, football and badminton nets, a trampoline, table tennis archery and Nick was brilliant at organising activities for those who were interested. Our girls loved the stomp rocket competition!! We had a great group of guests in other gites and often had a game of rounders on the huge field at the back. Nick even brought round ice lollies every afternoon during the heatwave! There is a small inland beach (Nanteuil) within 10 minutes drive which has great food at the snack bar and Brantome is great for canoeing. It’s the perfect destination for groups of friends / family who want to holiday together but not stay in the same accommodation as the gites are so close you can easily socialise. We will definitely be returning as this is a gem of a place in the Dordogne - thanks Nick and Jane for a fabulous week and your amazing hospitality and friendship!!
